Default Borla Exhaust System for XJ8

Jaguar XJ8 XJR Performance Exhaust Borla for Jaguar XJ8

Jaguar XJ8 Performance Exhaust Borla

Has anyone installed this system on an XJ8 or XJ Sport? It was designed for the XJR, so did anyone try that either? I know they claim 20bhp, and Borla is supposed to have a decent touring characteristic (quiet at lower RPM). I wouldn't consider it unless I had an idea of what people thought.

The Mufflers are $400.00 by themselves so the full system is probably a better deal at $980.00.

Sound clips would be great.

I'd find a local shop that can make up a set of back pipes in stainless, straight through instead of the rear mufflers your car currently has. They'd pick up the system after the axle.
A set of 2.5" pipes will give you a nice deep V8 sound without being muscle car loud.

BTW....the only way to get 20bhp is with the XJR and would need induction and remap included for that kind of gain, not possible with a normally aspirated car, unless you delete the cats and VVT, along with induction and remap, maybe gaining 10-15bhp.

And all the things Sean described sound too expensive to me to justify the modest gain. Seems to me the best path to power is to start with the powerful car so getting an XJR and building from there is the way to go.

I constantly see people saying this, but I don't care. The power isn't my concern, it's the sound. If I wanted 13mpg I'd have gotten an XJR. Again, NOT ABOUT POWER AT ALL.

I WANT this sound! This would even sound good on a VDP without sounding like overkill. I like the deep tone without much V8 burble which would sound out of place on a VDP.

Agreed. Sounds great. Based on the tips, is that an Arden system?

The straight pipe would be extremely cost effective so I really suggest you look in to that. Your car is a sport model right? Do those have XJR exhaust tips? If not finish it off with a set of those. You could have everything you are looking for and the cost would be much less.
