As the title says....
I have a big dent in my driver's front door, and am looking to get a different door rather than pay over $1500 to fix this one. I've found one on ebay, but the seller isn't exactly motivated to provide me with a picture of the door sticker showing the exact paint code. The color *looks* the same as mine, but I know there were some subtle variations year-over-year to the paint on these. I have the VIN from the car this door will come off of. I cannot go there and look at it myself, as it's 2,000 miles from me. The paint code on my car, a 2000, is LGL (Titanium Mica). The car in question is a 2001.
Does anybody know for sure if LGL code was used again in 2001? Or if there is a way to decipher paint code from the VIN? I thought I saw somewhere where I could plug in a VIN and find out all the details of a particular car as it left the factory. I did search the forum, but the link to deciphering paint codes led me to a page about changing to a mesh grill...
Thanks
Steve
Steve, pretty sure you cannot get the paint code from the VIN
Here are links to colors by year for the X308, not sure how accurate they are, it is the Internet after all, but it lists Titanium Mica as being available for the X308 for 1999, and 2000, but not for 2001 (called Titanium only), and not for 2002.
You can get the paint color through ddw with the vin. That is a dealer access portal that with the vins shows in service dates, outstanding recalls, and how a vehicle is equipted with paint and interior color. Now that you know that the next thing is how to get it looked up through ddw
That link lists "All Models", I wonder if that indicates that these Jaguar colors were available throughout the range, but not necessarily specifically on the X308?
