Default Can't open bonnet

My bonnet (hood) is stuck. When I pulled the lever, only the driver's side released. In attempt to trick the passenger side to release by pressing down on the driver's side, the release lever went slack. Now both sides don't release and I don't get pressure on the release lever.

Anybody experienced this before? Grateful for any assistance on how to solve this.

My car is 2001 XJ8 Vanden Plas.

See the thread I linked to in this thread:

It is likely your cable came detached on both sides. It is really easy to drill the small hole and stick a screwdriver through to pop the lock. Hopefully your lock is not broken like mine was. My issue was way out of the ordinary.

Drill a 1" hole in the wheel well or whatever size plug you can find to fill the hole afterword. Good idea to disconnect the battery in case you
goof and hit the battery cable on the left side. You will be sticking a screwdriver through the hole all the way to the latch to pop it. Happens to everyone sooner or later...
