I posted in the audio forum with no nibbles, so I am trying here:

Apple's CarPlay was formally announced recently. I'm wondering about the feasibility of installing it in my 1998 VDP. I love my car, but I hate my sound system. Two or three times now I've installed an iPod cable, but the cable has failed and needed to be replaced.

Is there anyone here that has tried to install a screen based system? I have the original head unit and the CD stack in the back.

I'm a full on Apple fangirl, and even considering having a custom mini iPad installed, but worry about retaining a good look and integrity on the dash.
CarPlay would be my dream solution.

Are there any car guys here in Southern California have done this on a Jaguar?

You can't use CarPlay on a mounted iPad. Must use a certified pioneer to use it.

I've seen people detach the screens and run wires to the head unit to get it to fit
