Went this AM to put gas in car. As I was trying to pump the gas, the gas nozzel kept clicking off as to indicate it was full when actually there was no gas in the tank to speak of, Vapor Lock??? Check engine light is on but don't have a scanner to check. any suggestions????

 

my car does that sometimes, I have found if you don't shove the nozzle all the way into the car, and just barely insert it, there is no problem filling it up.

as far as the code I suppose it could be related, you can use the codescanner at advance auto for free, you give them your driver's license and they give you the scanner, or sometimes they just walk out to your car with you (there have been problems with people stealing the scanners)

I'm from the 757 as well, you don't see too many XJ's in our area

 

Thanks but I tried that. Took me over 15 minutes just to get a gallon of gas in the car. It acts as though the tank is full but I know better. Just a little info, I no longer live in 757 as I moved last June to Myrtle Beach. Best move I ever made. thanks again for the info.

 

Your code will probably show that there is a problem with the evap system. But, you already know that from the difficulty in refueling.
