I went and replaced the Center AC vent on my 2003 XJ8. No problem. But my clock bulb stopped working, but the clock works fine. I priced replacement bulbs on line and buying a used clock in great condition seemed much less expensive, so I did. Bulb still not working. They said it worked when I bought it, but it’s not working for me.
Is there a fuse JUST for the bulb? I’m pretty sure I didn’t mess up any of the wiring when I replaced the Center vent.

Check the contact tangs on the flange. They will bend flat and even though it locks in, the tangs aren't making full contact. I just went through this a couple months ago.
