confused about p1000
I recently pulled a p1647 code along with a p1000. Replaced the the upstream o2 sensor yesterday....that was fun. Had a couple of other things to do today...among them, replace a low beam headlight lens.....more great fun. Anyway got everything back together today.....cleared the codes, and took it for a spin. No CEL, which is wonderful. Plugged the scanner back in just for the hell of it, and still get the p1000. I know this means systems check did not complete. I had the negative battery post disconnected for several hours yesterday while doing the o2 sensor. Is there something else I need to do? Still not getting any DTC other than p1000.
And you were right. Plugged up the scanner after a couple of days driving the car....P1111, just as it should be.....and no other DTCs. Been a while since I've had no CEL...lol....love it. Don't know if anyone else had tried this.....I've been chasing a small leak in EVAP system code for a couple of years now....replaced the gas cap twice, with genuine Jag caps......checked tubing and hoses countless times, finding no obvious cracks.....so I figured probably purge valve or something. Before buying more parts though, I thought I'd try something else. I removed the gas cap, put a light coat of oil on the seal, and what do you know......that code has disappeared as well.
Check the EVAP system.
FTP sensor is bad, or the wires of FTP sensor is bad, or the ground of FTP sensor is bad or the pressure in a fuel tank is too high due the blocked EVAP tubes/canister.
After you'll fix p0453 code, the P1000 will switch to P1111
