Constant door unlocking / locking whilst driving
Hi All
I have an XJ8 that has recently had some work done.
Recently the car has started doing something strange, the car seems to be trying to lock [or unlock] the doors whilst driving, the inside lights also stay on all the time.
There is also a problem when parked as the car does not seem to respond to the key properly [I just use the key and not the fob as that has never worked] it works eventually but only after a few tries and the interior lights all stay on until it finally locks.
Any ideas?
Many thanks in advance

First try a hard battery reset. With a 10mm wrench loosen and remove the negative lead to the battery and touch it to the positive post. This drains all residual voltage in capacitors. Reattach and tighten the negative cable. This has worked for other security and locking control issues.
Also while you are in the battery area, be sure there is no moisture or dampness near the security locking and control module (it is underneath the fuse box just aft of the battery).

Anything the mentioned repairs have to do with the driver door?
Sounds like you might have problems with the micro switches associated with the door handle. There is also a module located in the driver door that advises the ECM the status of the door lock and the window.

Many thanks for your input everyone. I am about to try the hard battery reset and will go from there.
In response to the previous question no there was nothing done on the door but the battery did need to be charged so I will check.
