Do random people attempt to race you in your X308 at stop lights or the highway?

Wild, aha ...

The current albums in my CD changer are

  1. Xandria - Kill the Sun
  2. Scorpions - Sting in the Tail
  3. Sirenia - The 13th floor
  4. Dio - Master of the Moon
  5. Theatre of Tragedy - Forever is the World
  6. Heaven and Hell (actually this is Black Sabbath in "disguise") - The Devil You Know
So currently it's a mix of Gothic/Symphonic Metal and some firm Hard Rock. Until I feel the desire to load another set of albums.

Yes, I'm an ol' Metalhead. It all started in my early youth with Status Quo, Scorpions, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and the likes. I also strongly like the classic rock mainly of the 70s and 80s - like Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Genesis, CCR, ZZ Top, to name a few.

I can see a pattern here-V8 engines & heavy rock music! The two go together I think

I have various rock/metal/indie albums from Black Sabbath, Led Zep, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, The Cult, The Mission, Sisters of Mercy etc.

Then there's Wagner's Ring cycle-my version is by the Berlin Philharmonic with the late Herbert Von Karajan.

Beethoven's 9th Choral symphony...

Elgar's 'Pomp & Circumstance/Land of Hope & Glory' (very suitable for the Bentley!)

They do!

I don't know about the Bentley (yet ) but the XJ8 definitely is a fine environment for, I think, virtually any kind of music. In any case it is for firm rock music, operas and classical symphonies. And though it's not my cup of tea I guess that Jazz and Blues go very well too. The only kind of music I can NOT connect to the XJ is Rap and HipHop.

I cannot connect to Rap & Hip-Hop under any circumstances

The Bentley plays it's own music from the deeper rumble of the big V8-it growls like a big dog whereas the Jag purrs like a very contented cat

Variety is the spice of life

I think the Jag is suitable for all types of music but in the Bentley I can't listen to anything except the heavy stuff-usually hard rock or grand opera, when I'm not listening to the deep V8 rumbling growl on hard acceleration!

we use an ipod connection so we have all the music in 1 place, I like Eagles, Steely Dan, Elvis, Motown, Grand Funk Railroad, Pink Floyd, wife likes Latin, Brazilian, Celine Dion, Yanni.

We never seem to have the ipod when we both are in the car. !!

Had a fairly recent M3 BM try and run me last week. We both mildly hit it right off the line then I heard him give it the berries so I obliged and left him for dead. Was rather surprised but gave the kitty a nice pat on the bonnet when I got home and stowed her in the garage

They must be smarter around here. M3's don't even try. Strangely enough, it's idiots in SUV's and mini-vans wanting to burn up their brakes at the next red light. But they don't count because they'll even race a bike courier for position.

Recently a BMW M3 tried me on an otherwise empty freeway at around 5 AM. Pulled away from him pretty well all the way up to maybe 125 MPH-ish before he just dropped back. He avoided driving anywhere near me after that.
At lights its usually 3 and 5 series BMWs and Mustangs. They really underestimate what they're dealing with. Also had a late 90's looking Suburban trying to egg me on on a higher speed limit road... wasn't worth the risk of a ticket to entertain him.

I don't even bother acknowledging the plebs anymore....after blowing away a few locals...they tend to keep there distance.
Occassionally you will get a local wally sidle up beside you, give a sideways glance and start to revv as the light turns green....I just plant the boot long enough to raise the nose and let off while they go screaming down the road to be either pinged by a red light camera or hauled over by a Blue Meany....are such fun without really trying....sooooo undignified ;o)

Discreet, and all the better for it
Or 0-100 in 10.5 seconds in my case

I've left even vettes sucking my exhaust just across the intersection.

With the lower pulley and other mods, I'm getting a full 18 psi of boost before crossing the intersection! This is the fastest "XJ8" on the planet

Little race a had a while back with a fellow Impreza STI owner bragging his mod's and telling my how much faster it would be over my Jaaaag.

He was so confident he got his missis to record it, must admit it was close.......for about 2 seconds, he tried so hard, he blew it up.
