drain tubes
Following a ridiculous amount of condensation on the inside of my windows lately, and after reading some posts , as a first step I plane to clean out the A/C condensate drain tube(s).
Can somebody confirm (SeanB perhaps following your post on rust areas) that these are the tubes protruding from the front wheel arch covers.I have one tube on each wing nearest the bulkhead side...? (car has no sunroof btw).
Also the moisture seems particularly bad on the rear window, its literally dripping off and I'm having to soak up the water with paper towels on a daily basis - does this point to something else , perished seal perhaps, although on visual inspection the window seal seems OK. The weather has been very wet lately but I dont remember anything like this last winter.
The A/C , demist, and recirc seem to be functioning normally as far as I can tell.
Many thanks
AndyP

No Andy, those tubes tucked behind the front wings are drain tubes for the sunroof, if the car isn't fitted with them, there's a red bung fitted to each.
The aircon drain tubes are located either side of the transmission underneath the car, they empty onto the ground, you can see this on a dry tarmac and full pelt with the aircon...The rubber boots that go from the aircon unit to the chassis could be disconnected allowing water to drain inside the car, are your front footwells dry as a bone, if not it's something to check...
I'd be more inclined to think rust as caused the rear window to loose sealing integrity, have you got the tell tail bubble of rust in each lower corner of the rear screen?

many thanks for the quick reply Sean.
- lifted carpets to inspect inner A/C drain tubes, both seem intact with no sign of damp/water.
- no sign of rust (yet) at rear window panel, although the outermost seal does have some gunk trapped under it so I'll give it a good clean.
I will try and clean the exterior tubes when next under the car.
It may well just be the extremely damp weather - a windscreen fitting place next door to my work said as much but there does seem to be quite a lot of condensation on the rear screen in particular - the rear window brake light stickers have given up the ghost as well ....
I've tried those dehumidifiers (the calcium chloride type) but they're a waste of time.
Thanks anyway.
