Question Driver seat "auto" convenience feature - controllable?

Is it possible to influence how far back the seat goes when using the "auto" convenience feature? I really want the seat to go back a couple of inches to get my in a better position to get in and out without destroying the side bolster... but the ruddy thing goes so far back I feel I might as well use the back door instead. Is there a way of controlling/restricting the movement? Lovely feature, but "calm down"!

Great question. I feel exactly the same about mine. I hope that someone knows of a way because I've yet to find the solution.

You can turn off the feature, but I'm not aware of a way to tell it how far back to slide. On the side of the steering column is a knob which controls the telescope and raise/lower feature of the steering column itself. That same knob also twists to an on and off position. That's what turns the convenience feature on or off so your seat won't slide back when you open the door.

I turned it off on my car because it kept hurting my back seat passengers. I just set two of the three memory positions for myself. One is my preferred driving position and the other is my exit position (which really is just the driving position with the wheel all the way up).

I turned it off on the Duchess as well, it's not that hard to get in and out of at the
position I drive at. Its a pretty neat feature however I could see where it might
present a problem if the back seat was occupied by a long legged individual.

My seat went back far enough that I found it made exiting the car more difficult and it would squish my 9 year old son's legs.

This is a great solution. I’m going to do this. I’m pretty good sized, so my seat is normally back almost all the way anyway, but what I don’t like about the feature is that it telescopes the steering wheel all the way in. Even though it also tilts up all the way, telescoping it in actually makes it worse for my knees to swing out. What I need is for it to ONLY tilt up, and do nothing with the seat or the telescope. Your solution will do that. I can’t believe I didn’t think of it!

I might even experiment with having it move the seat forward a few inches too, because I do fight the B pillar a little bit. Thanks for the tip!
