I would NOT attempt this myself. There are plenty of "mobile" installers, that would love to come to my garage, and safely remove it for 50 bucks or so, and return to reinstall when I call them.

I KNOW I would ruin the seal and/or the glass/chrome if I try to do it myself. Not worth it.

Totally agree, they get paid very little on insurance work so a side job in and out would be acceptable to an installer

Even Big Ed China from Wheeler Dealers got a mobile tech in to remove one on a job he was doing.......a good investment I'd say

An old "friend of mine" said it the best: "A good man always knows his limitations".
I know mine.

Lol I hear ya. I watched my installer put the glass in the jag and when removing it be used a jig saw like tool and did it from inside. The chrome and everything stayed attatched and he pushed glass out from inside. When totally loose he came out and used his suction cups transferred chrome trim and seal to new and that was that.

Easy way to remove a windshield?
Try a brick from about 10 feet. Usually works, is fast and easy, but I think that's not the advice you were looking for?

Bearing in mind it's an older Jag, what condition is the old windshield in?

If its scratched / pitted etc it may be worth considering a new one?

Sometimes if you get a stonechip / crack etc your insurance can replace for a small deductible, in the UK it's usually a ominal amount, probably around the same / cheaper even if you were to get a professional in to remove and replace.

I have to change mine too, do I need any new seal, or the old one will be recovered? Any specific part is needed for the fitting back?
I see a part called "buffer" GNA8806AA , do I really need that?
