Default A few suspension questions

1998 XJR. The car rides very stiff. A previous owner put 19" wheels and sport tires on the car, but I'm going to replace them with original rims and Bridgestone touring tires. I'm replacing the shock absorbers on all four corners with Bilstien comfort shocks, the top shock mount plates in front, all the rubber bump stops etc related to the shocks and where they mount.

Anyway, the coil springs have some yellow paint on them, which after some googling on the forum I THINK might mean they are original comfort springs. Can anyone confirm? What, then, would make the car ride so rough? The current shocks are green which again I think might mean OEM, but the car has 140k miles so they had to have been replaced at some point I'd think. I don't think the shocks are bottoming out because I can push the front end down and it springs back up sort of. But you feel every road surface irregularity.

The car seems to sit square and level, side to side. Will my new tires, shocks, bumps stops, and top rubber bumpers help that much? .....because it needs to help quite a bit!

Any thoughts on an XJR suspension system will be appreciated. Thank you!

Yes, the correct size wheels and tires would most likely help. Before i went and started spending money replacing all the suspension parts that make an XJR an XJR, i would see how much of my suspension rubber has failed or is failing. at 140k i would suspect alot of rubber has or is going bad: per experience with my car. Our cars by their luxury nature have just about everything isolated by something made of rubber. If one joint goes bad or is going bad you will feel it on a bump. After replacing Everything in my front suspension, my car is nice smooth and tight. stiff? sure compared to a Lincoln Continental, but a bmw (lets say a e38 7 series) heck no.
