FINALLY - clear indicators and side markers for my XJ8 (X 308 series)
Hello guys,
ever since I bought my XJ (X308 series) I wanted to get rid of these orange indicators and side reflectors and replace them with modern looking clear/white units.
As you will know, there are no aftermarket parts available. I have even contaced Hella, the German manufacturer of these parts to learn, that they could produce these parts in "clear", but have no permission to do so from Jaguar. It`s a little ironic, that they ad the orange colour as a last and final step to the products …
So I took some time and contacted moulding companies only to hear that they could produce clear parts, but only at a horrific price. This means some thousand Euros for a small batch series.
Finally I found a small german moulding company that offered a reasonable price for a very limited series. Since every mould allows only 20-25 pieces to be casted and it takes 3 to 4 days to harden for each part, production is slow and time consuming.
I removed the orange glasses carefully from the indicators and side reflectors and sent them to Germany. A few days ago I got the first delivery. After some fitting, rasping and glueing the parts were finally ready for installation. What shall I say: a complete new look, just take a look at the pics.
The bad news is that all sets have been sold, sorry.
So, this is a short story that with patience and endurance even impossible tasks can be achieved, even if it takes 1,5 years like in ths case.
Regards,
George

I worked in the Concept and Specialty Car business for 15 years and one of my old associates can duplicate any lamp lens in any color right here in the Detroit area.
His prices are very reasonable and he uses the highest quality materials.
Feel free to call me at two four eight 943-5928 or PM me for his contact info.

These look great! I too dislike the standard orange colour. I have replaced the repeater lenses with clear, but have never found the fronts. I would be very interested if any more sets were available? How much did it cost? (and for how many?) Maybe we could get enough of us to get some more moulded?

What is the 308 series? I have a 2004 XJ8 and my side markers are either coming off or cracked and I would like to replace them at a "reasonable" price. The clear lenses look very nice, however, I think mine are a different shape (FRONT MARKERS have a straight front edge and a rounded back) and (REAR MARKERS have a rounded front and straight back) Does anybody know where I can get replacements at a reasonable price in the US?
