Default Fuel System "B" Open Loop No codes

I am trying get ready to pass emissions and have managed to clear all monitors except the Catalyst. Their are no codes (other than P1000). I have a OBD reader that provides Mode 6 data - all clear. The "Fuel System Status" check indicates "System A - Closed Loop, all O2 Sensors providing input to fuel system; System B - Open Loop, has not yet satisfied conditions to go closed loop (Bank 1 or both)". System "A" goes closed loop very quickly after starting the engine. System "B" never goes closed loop. Charting the O2 sensor data real time indicates Sensors 1 and 2 on both banks seem to be reacting to vehicle operating conditions appropriately. I am beginning to think that System B not being able to go closed loop is preventing the catalyst test from completing. My OBD reader/app is BlueDriver. Any ideas?

1999 XJ8 4.0L AJ27 not supercharged.

Yes, without the system completing its cycle, you will get the P1000 until the issue is cleared. Double check your connections, that you have your O2's plugged in to the correct ports. That no pins pushed out of the connectors either. It may simply be a bad O2 sensor.

Default Same Here :-(

Hi Kansas99XJ8,

I have the exact same issue as you stated on my 2003 XJ8. I also use BlueDriver.

System B - Open Loop, has not yet satisfied conditions to go closed loop (Bank 1 or both)

Do you have any updates?

I have done a lot of fixes to my car but have not pushed past this issue.
My O2 sensor readings and Fuel trims seem good - even though I know the closed loop on bank B means they are not being used but the ECM is using the factory programmed default.

Please let me know.

Dave

I was told by BlueDriver support that there is no Fuel System B on the XJ8. They said Fuel System B is reserved for certain vehicles that have duel fuel capability like some diesel trucks. I was able to clear most of the other emissions tests by very specifically executing the drive cycles. Some are hard to do on the freeway, but where else can you drive at 3500 rpm in 4th gear (75 mph)? It wasn't the speed so much, but the 30 seconds of coasting that creates a potential problem.

I was never able to get the Catalyst to clear, but Georgia allows one "not complete" item of the many emissions items that are needed to pass.

Default confusing bluedriver message

Hi Kansas99XJ8,
Great feedback. I was very suspicious of this message last night as I saw other people with GM cars - etc also stating "System B - Open Loop, has not yet satisfied conditions to go closed loop (Bank 1 or both)" and the common link was bluedriver.

Thanks for your feedback.

I still have catalyst not complete but I will look at my fuel trims, drive some more and ask for help on a new thread,

Regards,
Dave
