I have a 2001 xjr 129000 miles car runs great i love it
There is a haze or film on my windows on the inside when I cleaned it yesterday it came off brownish green
I've been driving with the ac on all summer so I don't think it came from outside of the car.

Any ideas?

Anyone know a good jag tech in chicago?

Have you had to add coolant ?? Thats what it sounds like

The heater matrix develops a leak -- although this is not a problem that is discussed often on the XJ's


Although -- the factory fill is orange in color. What color fluid is in the tank?


Other than some strange deodorant/ mold killer that may have been sprayed in the system I'm not sure what else it could be

 

Do you smoke? It could be Ciggarette smoke residue or niccotine sticking to your glass? I'm not a smoker but people I know who smoke all have misty windows on their cars.

 

the coolant is orange and it stays pretty full
but sometimes after i drive for a while i do smell something outside it smells kind of sweet but i cant figure out where its coming from

 

hi, i know i'm a couple of months late in posting on this thread but i have had the same sweet smell coming from my xj8 and never figured out from whence it came but today i have noticed that both rear footwells under the front seats were damp and it appears that coolant??(it's clear but has a nasty taste) is leaking from the rear footwell heater ducts. i'm assuming this is being caused by a leak in the heater matrix, if anyone has had similar problems any diagnosis/repair replies would be welcome. my coolant level stays rougly half an inch from the top. if it is filled right to the top it will always end up half an inch down and stay there irrespective of miles covered. have a look in the footwells and let me know how you get on. cheers, rod.
