Default Help!!! Rev up and coolant loss

Hi all,

I am a new member of this wonderful forum as previous visiting only as guest. I bought a 1998 Jaguar XJ8 a while ago. But it recently gives me a lot of problem.

My rev up while idling and more often enough it also rev up by itself while driving and jerking so I have to easy on the gas pedal and it goes back to normal RPM. If this jerking happens often time it also release the coolant from the front and don't where it comes from. Can anyone help me on this issue. Thank you so much in advance.

Welcome to the forum Rickngo63,

I've copied your question from your Intro thread to X308 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Does the overflow you see come from the front left? Then that is the capture tank. It can fill up if the pipes to the coolant heater tank are incorrectly installed. The two pipes on the front of the header tank should appear "crossed over". If they are crossed over. Then it is possible that there is a head gasket to coolant leakage.
