An here it comes HUGE project thoughts??
Well I have come across a hell of a deal on a wrecked 2011 XJ supercharged car complete drive train all working with wiring, engine, computer etc etc I wont disclose what I paid but lets say it was a slow day at the auction and being not many knew what it was cause of the damage sustained in the accident that it was obviously in i got it for VERY cheap lets just say less than I woulda paid for a nice 4.2 engine complete. Anyway I am contemplating switching out to the 5.0 TVS powered motor and trans into my car
thoughts and comments on this lil idea????

Contemplating? Sounds like you're committed! I'm not sure of the overall differences. The new Jag looks nothing like our genre. I'm not sure about electronics, etc., but I'm sure that's one hell of an undertaking to make it work right. How would you make the new computer system work with the old sensors which aren't swapped during the drivetrain swap? Would the 2011 ECM/TCM work with all of the older technology in our cars? What about diagnostics? Would you scan for a 2011 XJ for engine and trans codes and your year/model for all of the other codes?
in my view it's a bridge too far - but nothing is impossible. The issue is this, to get the engine and trans to work, the 2011 car would have to be stripped completely, along with the donor 308.
Two bodyshells, the alloy one scrap the other ready to take all the looms, locking mechs, dash, trans engine, etc etc etc. Firstly, the 11' car should work 100% and drive happily ready for transfer.
Also, being fibre optic on many of the systems, i.e. data, infotainment I've no idea how this would transfer, altering them isn't an option so real attention on the stripping down of how it's all fixed to the chassis.
Basically it's a massive job, there's no turn key solution just try and see if it works once it's all installed into the 308 chassis.
My own job of 308 to 308 wasn't easy, this would need serious thought and work. (years of it)
The engine + trans just won't work on it's own, not with 308 systems because of the data languages, sensors and packaging.

that's a lot of work for a 100 hp gain, but it would be cool.
the main thing that would concern me would be with the air suspension and all of its computer modules and how you could remove them without upsetting the rest of the harness.

well i have everything out of the 11 jag it is missing nothing it acually starts up and moves fine on its own just body is fubar. I dont know if I will acually attempt this it was just a thought I can easily triple or even quaduruple my money just selling it for parts. LOL
