I'm not new to the forum as I used to have an X-type. It is dearly departed now because someone decided to back up at a red light and hit her on the nose. I now have transitioned to ownership of a 2003 XJ Vanden Plas. It was a two-owner car and the last owner, as near as I can tell, put in a fair amount of repairs and she seems to be running well. There was a question related to the ABS (ATC/TRAC not available message showed up during two of our test drives). However, I drove it to a european car specialist and they cleared the codes and read the system for outputs from the sensors and they were right on spec. However, I had the dealer add a 30 day warranty onto the deal for the ABS system in addition to a 30-day warranty for power train and engine.
