Default How to replace wood trim on X308 rear door?

The wood trim on the left rear door of my ‘02 XJR is cracked, and I’d like to replace it. I see eBay has several replacement trim pieces for a reasonable cost. I can’t find instructions online how to remove and replace the trim. Can someone please help?

Thank you!

Take door opening handle of the door cart. There is one screw holding the handle. Then pry the wood trim outwards where handle was and go on prying it out towards rear and sametime pull trim slightly to front. There is angle "hooks" at the rear of the trim that would not come out by prying.

Thank you! I will go ahead and order the new wood now that I know how to do it. I appreciate your help, Vauxi!

it's not unlike removing the trim on a front door: remove the plastic surround on the interior door handle, then slide the trim in the appropriate direction to free it from under the hook or latch-like metal pieces that hold it against the interior door frame. Be gentle as you lift the front end over the door handle. it's been so long I can't recall the direction for the rear doors but believe it's in the direction of the interior handle, i.e. forward. Same process for the X300s. once you've cleared the roughly 1" of the two latching hooks the piece should lift away. As they say in the manuals, installation is the reverse of removal ... gently.

Thank you, Eliot. I ordered the replacement wood. I appreciate the advice because I can imagine doing it incorrectly and being forceful could cause a crack in the replacement trim then I’d be back where I started.
