I need to replacd low beam headlight housing due to it being broke by rock. help!

Find one on eBay, buy it, there are three plastic prongs that hold the light fixture in place. Gently push the old one out, disconnect the wires; replace the bulb (don't touch the glass on the halogen bulb); reconnect the wires; gently push the prongs back into place (align carefully); smack it home.
Google replacing headlight on XJ8; I remember (faintly) a YouTube and lots of forum threads. JTIS would have you dismantle the whole front end of the car; not necessary; it took me about ten minutes. Mine, too, hit by a rock off a truck tire.
