interior water damage! Please help! 1 day newby..
I have had the car only 24 hrs. and already messed it up... Came home from a beautiful evening drive with the "Moon roof" open admiring the moon and forgot and left the moon roof open. You guessed it, it RAINED! And hard. I am looking for ANY info on what to do to clean and fix this issue. I will start my vacuuming out the water. ANY other tips would be GREATLY appreciated. I am a newby to Jag's but not to car repair. Just looking for any ideas. I have 5 vehicles and am members of forums for all of them and have found countless ideas and fixes for all of them. Thank You So much for ANY help.

Hey rwd and welcome to the world of Jagaur and the forum.
So sorry to hear bout your problems mate.
I dont have any experience of this myself but I woulda thought that a dehumidifier of some sort left in the car for a few hours, maybe even overnight if possible would be a good idea to lift any excess moisture from the fabrics, carpets etc.
Good luck

AWWW DAMN IT! Doesn't that just get you so ****ING mad? I'm so sorry to hear that man. I know what it is to leave a window open, but even worse is when you've only had the car for a darn day. I would remove the seats to get all of the water under the seats out as well. I think that under the seats is where it's most critical because it can eat away at the area where the seats bolt up and start to develop rust. Good luck and just go about it like any other car. I don't know how easy it is to remove the center console, but I would definitely remove that too. Then, I would check to make sure that all electronics work. NOT YET THOUGH. First wait to get everything dry. I know you're not familiar with the baby yet, but ask and we shall answer. Welcome mate.

New carpet? Don't bother mate. The carpet is easily cleaned, specially if it's already wet and you have to go through the drying process anyways. Rug Doctor is best, and then use heat lamps to dry everything. Make sure it's dry though. RUST FTMFL!

Big dreams, The carpets are not in very good shape and I would like to start out with new. Any suggestions would be great. I have done some searching and am having a hard time finding carpet kits for the XJR. I may start a new post to get more input. Thanks for the help! Bob

Thanks to all for the help! This is a great forum and eventually I hope to help out also. I bought a de-humidifier that is made for a basement or such capable of functioning down to 38 deg.F and holds 50 pints of water. I placed it in the car and have pulled about 1.5 gallons of water so far. It may have cost me 200.00 but I have a very damp garage that it will come in handy for also. Thanks again!! Bob
