Default Key Fob programming

Is there a "how to" here for programing a key FOB?

Are they specific to the year of car?

The programming steps do vary form model to model. Attached is the process for your car.

I have a 2012 XF, so I am using the X type in the first section. Instructions not that great. I insert the key, and I hear the sounds and it gets sucked in. Ok great. Then what? Instructions just say first step is "The ignition must be cycled four times between Run and Accessory four times. end the cycle on Accessory position." My 2012 XF is push to start, so there is no "leave the switch in Accessory" position.

Anyone know if any other instructions??

Thanks.

Hahaha...now that was bait and switch. He had a '98 XJ8 in his signature but was
asking about a 2012 XF.
