What's the truth behind programming a keyless remotes yourself? I have conflicting information saying the flashing the lights, etc, only works on older Jags (pre 2000) and that the remote needs to be programmed by a dealer if car is newer than 2000? Has anybody been able to program on a 2003 XJ8 or Vanden Plas? Furthermore, what's the correct part # for this remote? There are a bunch of Ebay auctions but the seller can't confirm that it is the right part number and some are even saying it needs to be programmed by a dealer.

te only ones that have to be done by a dealer are STYPES(all) and smart keys for the newer push button to start cars. Yes you still flash lights, 1st key position,drivers door open, trunk open, and right eye closed...
