Default Limp mode

Greetings Jag Owners! I am Arzie Gordon from Reno NV. I am a 20 year Air Force Veteran, Retired. I am now working for the VA hospital. I have a 1999 Jaguar XJ8, 4.0. My cousin misplaced the gas cap, which caused the car to start going into limp mode here and there. I've had it tuned up and filters changed. Does anyone know a way to fix this? I keep hearing throttle body and mass air flow. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Welcome. first thing to do is have the car's OBD codes pulled & post them here, this will tell you what errors/problems the car's computer is reading/stored.

That is the only way to start troubleshooting. Without the codes, it's all speculation.
