Default Looking to buy an 03’ xjr

Hello everyone! I have come from the x type and a type r platforms and am looking at a xjr this week. It’s an 03’ in black with 144k miles. I will likely be trading my daily driver, which is an 03’ x type 2.5 with 93k miles. If y’all have any suggestions on what to look out for when inspecting the x308, I really appreciate it. Also, both cars are in great condition, so what should a fair trade look like. I was thinking along the lines of a clean deal with no cash, but I’ll let y’all advise as you are the experts. Thanks!

-Aidan

Here’s the one I want to trade for with 144k

Here’s my baby with 93k on her

XType to XJR isn’t normally going to be a clean deal but who knows.

03 is best year no chain problems to worry about and upgraded cupholders. Otherwise read TSBs as above.

The much higher mileage on the XJR might make it an even trade, but you are looking at an extra 51K miles of wear (the age is the same) and taking on an unknown risk. You need to see the maintenance records and I highly recommend to get it inspected by an independent mechanic to predict what your cash outlay is going to be in say the first year or two after the trade. Somebody wisely posted on here previously and I wish I could find the post to give credit, but said that the XJ8 rightly was still a $10,000 used luxury sedan, you just paid $5,000 to the seller and $5,000 to your mechanic.
