Default Luggage fuse box area, odd wires

Hi,

Wonder if someone knows what this odd loose wire (pic 1) and loose connector (pic 2) are?

While going through through the motions to find a fault with my rear parking sensors, when I opened the luggage fuse box, I noticed these two loose connections and have been unable to find out what they are for, and if they should be loose at all?

The first picture looks like what I would call a grounding wire, which is white with a blue line down it. It is not in the fuse box, rather with other wires along side the battery,

The second picture I refer to the collection of wires with the long blue connector at the end, It looks like an OBD2 connection? Should this be loose?

Any advice appreciated.

On another note, the rear sensor issue still goes unsolved. All sensors click when switched on, and I've taken each one out to clean. I cannot find any breaks in the wiring so far, hence why I've ended up at fuse box.

This is from a Jaguar XJ8 Executive, 3.2, 2002.

Cheers in advance

Jim

The wire is white with a single blue stripe along it.

The blue connector (looks like an OBD2 connection point) is loose and can't see anywhere it should be.

Jim,

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Feedback & Suggestion Centre to X308 forum for advice from members with the same model.

The Jaguar Forums Feedback & Suggestion Centre is for posts about the forum and NOT for technical questions.

The first looks like it was added aftermarket, look for fresh e tape and see if you can trace it somewhere? it's possible it was tapped into the ant switch on signal to send a switch on to an aftermarket amp.
second might be the trailer harness? not sure about that one

The First one is in every X308, it's nothing to worry about.

The second one is for the factory phone, it goes into a massive Motorola branded module that sits on the lid of the fuse box cover.

There is also wiring there for connecting the caravan socket to when using the trailer harness or for fitting a 12v socket so you can charge a cooler or use a 12v accessory from the boot.

The Trailer Module would plug into the yellow socket you see clipped to the inside wall of your fusebox.

The European cars had this module but the ROW cars used a different phone type. Here is a photo I've found of one attached to the fuse box lid. It's too cold to go out and snap a photo of mine.

Thanks Stu, (and all other replies)

No bother, mind at rest regarding the first wire and thanks for letting me know the second connection is for factory phone. My lid doesn't have a module near it anywhere, so I'll ignore this connection too for the time being.

Thanks again

Jim

That's what I used while installing an accessory plug in the trunk, which comes indeed very handy for a cooler and the likes.
One of the three pins is continuous power, the other one needs a relay, and is only powered when the key is in (that's the one you will need to use .
