Manual Transmiisson
I have a nice XJR 1999, Had it since new, I read a while back about putting in a manual trans, All with off the shelves parts Any one got info on this? Thanks Jim OB
I think the S Type diesel gearbox bellhousing has the same bolt pattern as the AJV8 - so that would be off the shelf, a 6 speed. Pedal box assembly would be an X300, or again S type diesel.
The transmission module would need tricking, that's a part I would not have any idea on.

X300 pedal box works perfect. You'd need to at least spoof some of the TCM messages to avoid faults in the IPC (just a few simple periodic messages over CAN). What I don't know is just how uncooperative the ECM will be without it as it looks like there are several messages the ECM expects from TCM. Swallows Racing does conversions for XK with ZF6 manual, but go with a Maxx Race ECU to complete this package.
In a perfect world you could just playback some logged data from a working TCM to make everything happy. Seems too easy, but sometimes the data being in-range and present alone may allow the other systems to work, even if the values aren't changing. Speedo and odometer will work as those are ABS/TCCM based. ABS will work, but traction control will not behave as intended.

Jaguar built one, the XJR-R. It's at their heritage centre now, there might be some info floating about on how it was done somewhere.
Annoyingly I've seen them post about it on FB so I know it exists but google is lying to me & not admitting it's out there.

I am in the process of doing this with my LHD 1999 XJR. As has been mentioned the 6 speed box from the 2.7 Stype diesel bolts on.
other things you will need are
flywheel - Tom Lenthall in the uk supplies these
clutch - McLeod in the USA. I lcan dig out details if needed
pedal box - if you can find a manual one from an x300 go with that. Otherwise the early auto pedal boxes (aluminium) have the hole for the clutch master and require a bit of machining for the clutch pivot. I am using a clutch pedal from an xj40. The brake/clutch pedal will require adjustment (bending) to fit. Wilwood clutch master cylinder.
electronics - two solutions a new ECU or spoof the existing ECU to think the auto box is still there. I am going to try the second option
This is a work in progress, I have most of the parts and will be installing over the next few months

Dang, Jim - keep on fighting! 💪

I'm winning but still have months to go. As far as the conversion, There seems to be a problem with the elections. I bought my xjr new in 99 and still love to drive it. I'll just enjoy it as is, Jim OB
