My 1998 XJR melted the left fan fuse cartridge with out blowing the fuse! Now neither fans works, but everything else in the left engine fuse panel is OK. I have not tried to do anything with it, except remove the fuse remnants, because I don't want to do more damage. At this time the electrical shop manual would be a great asset. has anyone seen this before and if so what did you do to fix it?

Sounds like a defective fuse. This problem is typical of some Chinese made fuses sold at deep discount at Harbor Freight. See Chinese-Made Auto Fuses May Cause Fire

Fortunately it did not cause a fire.
