hmm...very interesting idea. I'm going to stay glued to see how it works out.

Also have you ever thought about shaving your hood leaper, like euro models?

Crushercurtis 06-15-2014 05:05 PM

Just got my xj sport today. How did you remove the molding?

Next.. before spending 100 plus on the emblems.... i decided on a test to see what they look like black... I've also had the idea to do the red around the tails to black like the newer models... plastidip can save you money before you decide fully!

With all that said i will probably everything done in gloss black as well.. i think it will look better/newer.

Can you tell me what company rebuilt your replacement wood and leather steering wheel?

XJR Prototype 06-26-2014 09:52 PM

Just a wheel out of a normal XJ8 without wood.

BTW i got a truck, but the wifeys car is a POS... so i'd like to sell this thing. Hoping for $6900 as it has a few more things that need finished still. Let me know if anyone is interested.

grandell 06-26-2014 11:06 PM

Can I buy your wheels? :P

Seriously though, it'll be a shame to see you part with this after the great job you've done getting it looking like that. Guessing the truck is just more practical?

XJR Prototype 06-26-2014 11:16 PM

Look up the price of the wheels with new tires and you'll be amazed at the deal you're getting on the whole car with them! hahaha

Work has taken over my life these days and the jag will just sit untouched if i don't get rid of it. The wife needs a new ride as well as her car is junk.

grandell 06-27-2014 12:20 AM

I know how you feel. And I know what you mean about the wheels... Now imagine what it's like being on an island in the middle of nowhere and trying to get anything shipped to you! At that price it's almost tempting to buy your car, keep the wheels, and part out the rest :p

Dan Hiatt 06-27-2014 04:43 AM

Wow, at $6900 that is a steal and a half for someone. Surely you could get at least another grand for it? You have done an awful lot to improve/enhance the car.

Second for wheels
If Grandell doesn't want the wheels please pm me next. I here in the midwest.

XJR Prototype 07-16-2014 10:22 PM

Letting this car go for $5900 to move quickly. She does need a few little things to be perfect still so the price reflects that. Let me know!

King Charles 07-17-2014 09:37 PM

Awesome Jag ! I have put aside some cash to take care of my 2 babies but this is tempting me to cheat & withdraw lol. I'm even checking shipping rates lol.

XJR Prototype 07-17-2014 09:39 PM

Well the bright side is you can probably make some money on it down there if you flip it haha.

I'd REALLY like it to go to a forum member who may continue this thread though!

King Charles 07-17-2014 09:46 PM

Yea my 11 year old son loves black on black & is already clamouring for rims if he sees this I am in for a badgering lol.

grandell 07-17-2014 10:30 PM

It would make a great upgrade from the XJ8 too... just saying ;)

XJR Prototype 07-20-2014 10:15 PM

I just dropped the price to $5400 so that should cover over half of the shipping cost.

Comes with a few goodies too ;)

Lovely XJR! I had been following the thread, and was planning on emulating a few things, and had I not just picked up a XJR just a few weeks back, Id be all over this one! Good luck with the sale!

Lavaman 07-21-2014 02:17 AM

These are the type of threads I love reading. May I suggest a few things?

-5% tint on all four windows, back windshield and windshield strip.
-Red or black caliper paint on all four calipers.
-Supercharger painted red with VHT engine paint.
-LED turn signal and brake lights from carid.
-Headlights and taillights tinted. 15%?

Then we'll all be saying.. WHOAH! What a jaaaaag!

Excellent work already by the way. I commend you for bringing this beauty back to its original condition!

King Charles 07-23-2014 01:43 AM

Ok made a decision I'm going to sell Lucy Liu (lol my bulletproof Infiniti) she's had every major thing taken care of minus cosmetics IE interior & paint & just cracked over 100K on the clock but the allure here is strong. If,no when I get my asking price & your gem is still available, I'm all over it.
May not be a long ordeal @ all as I have an associate that's been asking me about my Q. I have the expendable cash on hand now but I cannot justify another car in my drive way lol.

Plus a black cat to go with the white one is fitting,,, my EX calls me Jekyll & Hyde any ways lol.

XJR Prototype 07-23-2014 01:52 AM

Rock on! I'll be happy to see this project continue on here!

She just needs a little more love to make it a badass looking cat.

King Charles 07-23-2014 02:21 AM

Yes I just scoured this thread yet again lol.
