need to buy some goodies!!!!!
im looking for an xjr grille for my 98 vdp. Looking for a good shifter assembly, new jaguar and xjr emblems for the trunk, and a key fob. Anyone?? Also some 19" rims. Basically i wanna make my xj8l vdp look like an xjr. Lol
You want it to look like a real "XJR?" I don't really think that is what an "R" is all about, but if that floats your boat then.........
Get ready when someone who knows what a "real XJR" can do challenges you a a stop light or wants to see under the hood.
Got an aerosol can of fake SC whine and acceleration too? lol!
Why not just buy a real one? It's not the grill or the badges that make this car cool, its that silver thing sitting on top of the engine and what it can do.
The R series are real sleepers, especially if you de-badge them, but I never understood the desire to fake one.

Criticism isn't useful in threads like this, I understand. I have
a nice mesh grille/ screws in basically new condition, high-polish
stainless which I was very happy with. It is specially adapted to
the grilles of a standard model, so it fiills out the deeper cavity
nicely. PM me if you want my aftermarket grille.
I could part with my stock XJR grille, but I would want 3x the
value of an aftermarket part, there is a huge demand for the
stock R one. Jaguar Classic sells the mesh, it is about $600
for the mesh inserts on both sides.

I think Jaguar Classic Parts sells badging. I agree with Vector,
the badging is a step too far... it is obvious, like the ///M 323i
cars I see all over the place. The badge bezels aren't even the
same on N/A and S/C cars, one is chrome, the other is not.

The grille surround should be painted body colour for the true
XJR look.
Why not go for an original style, use some 17" old XJR or XK8
Wheels, a chrome fluted grille surround with a mesh insert,
stock exhaust tips, and the stock badging? It would make your
car more unique without the "poseur" factor which Vector (and,
admittedly, myself) so loathe.
Cheers,

I need to paint the mirror backs, door handles, grille edge, and chrome strip on trunk. As far as a real xjr... I already have my xj8 with 60k miles on it. Power wise the spray should take care of that lol. Can you send me pics of your mesh grille you are selling?
See im a different breed! Lol for example my pick up. Its a 1999 ford f350 4 door dually diesel with the 7.3 powerstroke in it. The truck is also a factory lariet package and from Dallas so its mint. I put a 2006 front end on it, a 2007 king ranch interior, kind ranch emblems, and 6.0 powerstroke emblems on the doors. It has 2012 tailgate and tailights on it and a fresh coat of ford f1 red pain. Fun part is everyone thinks its a 6 liter. Well after the 5" exhaust, gt38r turbo, stage 2 injectors, cold air intake, and ts tuners 6 position chip it scaled 9100 pounds and ran 13:0 1/4 mile... Really messes with people lol and best of all its a 7.3 and almost bullet proof : ) this is what i like to do. Make older cars and trucks look newer then tbeh are if i could put the 2005 front and rear on my jag believe me id have it on there lol...
@ Plums, based on Ebay, I'd say the value is between
$115-125, but sellers like mina gallery seem to ask about $150.
@OP, I can't upload the photos to this tread, due to the
high res of the Nikon D90 used to take them. Sadly
they are at my place in Tulsa, and I am with the family
for Christmas in FL, so I can't send them immediately.
very sorry about that. They do fit the stock grille fittings
on a Non-R though, and I would say the rubber is an
even higher quality than stock perhaps.

And I am another breed again! I want everything STOCK. Especially when it comes to Jaguar, that WILL one day be a "collector's item". Many will disagree that 98 VDP will ever be a collector's car, but I am talking 40-50 years from now, when none is left. It will still be stock, gorgeous, and all ORIGINAL (except the paint of course, but when the paint gets done, it will be a complete strip down to the metal, and a WAY better paint job than from the factory). I did the paint job on my XJS like that, and the price for the job was double than the value of the car! "It's only money."
XJR? Yup,....I want one. And I will have it soon, it's just a matter of time. It needs to be silver, black interior, all original, under 60K on the clock, 2002/2003, one owner, with all the service records, and from the Southwest (one that never saw any snow or salt!).
I drove three over the last few weeks, and every one lacked something from the above list. I will wait patiently.
"Rebadging" is not for me.

I believe the color combo you have is British Racing Green with Oatmeal...

My paint code is HGL spruce green metallic with ivory interior. I found 2 xjr grilles locally 1 is 85 and the other is 200 or best. Gonna look at them this week. The emblems i will have to get new.
I saw a white XJR a long time ago that had a chrome grill with mesh inserts and the rear trunk lid handle was chrome it looked really good, so may be on a BRG car it might be worth trying the grill inserts first then source a grill surround and color match it if you don't like the chrome look.
