Default NEED EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE... 2004 XJR WONT START

Hello everyone... I have a 2004 Jag XJR, it has been in the garage for 3 weeks. Go out to start it today and it wont crank, the windows and all the electrical work fine. I thought it was a weak battery so I go out and replace the battery with a new one, still the same problem. All electrical components work, but the car won't turn over. I have never had a problem like this in the past.... The only key I have for it is the Valet key and that has not given me a issue in the past, any advice would be grateful!

Does the red LED on the dash by windshield blink when you turn ignition on? Or does it come on for a moment and go out? This is when you turn key to position 2 (all lights on dash but prior to crank)

Just to summarized the PMs sent back and forth:

Had a blink code of 13 indicating the key code was not being received.
Asked if there was a hole in top of key where the black chip should be and indeed the chip was missing.
Resolution: Buy new keys and get programmed at dealer as Valet key was only key in posession.

Sorry we couldn't get it going, but at least you don't need any further diagnosis, just buying the keys and programming.
Good luck.

Thanks so much for your help... I have no idea what the heck happened to that chip. I pictured that car then parked it and hung the key up ever since.... you can see that chip in this pic, I never drove that car after that point

Hey guys... I found the chip in the driveway and now the car starts excellent! My brother (god bless him) hit the valet mode button and now the trunk won't open cause of that. On top of this, I only have the valet key, is there anyway I can reset that system to get it out of valet mode? Any help would be appreciated

not really it's doing what it is intended. to keep people who have a valet key out of the trunk and glove box. only way is to cycle the door lock barrel with the black key.. or you can sand down the tip of the valet key and turn it into a master key.. but not recommended.

I just hope everybody who reads this stuff realizes how lucky we all are to have two such knowledgable and generous professionals on this forum.

Every similar site I have visited pales in comparison, both in real technical content and in the congeniality of all who participate here.

Thank you to jag_genius and FactoryJagTech for their continuing efforts.
