Looking to by a XJR saw this one and wanted to know if this is normal engine noise?

No. Sounds like something is not right, like an idler bearing or something on the front of the motor.

But of course that is just a guess, the sound is pretty crude.

Hard to say, but it will need repair. The only way I even aimed at the front is from the relative location of the microphone.

It sounds to me like a bad idler pulley or some other bearing related to the serp belt.
