Default O2 sensors

Hi All,

2001 XJR.

Check engine light came on. Scanner reveals codes,
P0031, P0032, P0037 all on "Bank 1".

Looks like I need both O2 sensors. Does my car have two of these or is it actually 4 sensors as some other posts seem to indicate (not clear if that is for all years)?

Oh well, looks like another PIA to access Jaguar part.

Thanks,

Mike

Being an 01 your engine is an AJ27 and has upstream and downstream sensors, the 031/032 are upstream and the 037 is downstream. They're like sparkplugs and wear out, you can reset, wd40 the connectors sat on top of the trans bell housing and go from there. They can be tight to get out but with the correct 02 socket it's done.

2 in each cat, 2 cats = 4 sensors.

Ordered 2 of them on Amazon as only Bank 1 is throwing errors.

234-4798 came from an Amazon 3rd party seller and I am pretty sure it is a countefeit so I sent it back. Came in a "Denso" box and looks correct on initial observation. However, a few things not right. Logo incorrect on box (the Denso logo has kind of a fading swoosh, this had a solid swoosh and the blue is a different shade. Companies like Denso do not mes up their trademarks on packaging), part number painted rather than laser etched, part in ziplock bag rather than sealed Denso bag, compound on threads instead of in a little tube like Denso provides. Will pick one up tomorrow at the FLAPS.

The other one shipped direct from Amazon and appears to be genuine.
