I have a 2000 xjr, with a door lock problem. I cannot unlock the passenger door. Ive tried the remote every thing unlocks, but the passenger door. Ive tried opening the door using the inner handle, still no joy. Ive checked the relays all seem good. Checked Fuses as well. I also removed the door security control module and checked for signs of obvious damage.Seems all good. When using the remote i can hear the activators in the doors working but the passenger door is quiet and no signs of any movement. Can anybody help as her indoors is getting a bit miffed about riding in the back.

 

Replace the latch/motor assembly for the door

 

I have the exact same problem on my '99. In fact, two other guys near me, one with a '99 and the other with a '00 have the exact same problem. The '00 replaced the door latch/motor assembly and it now works 4.0. Both of us with '99s just reach across and unlock the door. A total pain but, I don't have a passenger in that seat very often.

if you can't open it manually with the inside handle, take it to a dealer. You don't want to be the one to break it. I'd have them do the latch/assembly anyway, let them take the responsibility to get the door open in the first place. Sorry, get the credit card out.
