Default Phoenix Red XJR

Hello Chaps,
You may remember recently I posted a poll asking what people's favourite colours were for the X308. I said I liked them in red, but was disappointed they never did them in Phoenix Red. Well according to this eBay listing they made at least two in Phoenix Red, and it looks bloody beautiful! I think my next project has just made itself known though; buying a dirt cheap XJR and doing a full restoration and finishing it in Phoenix Red. Just need the space, time and money to do it.

Anyway here's a link to the add and a couple of photos of this beauty.

I like this photo with the beam of sunlight, it's like a biblical sign. LOL.

Your link does not work, at least not for me, but I found the car on ebay.uk.

The color is different then I thought, but I do agree, it makes it a whole other kind of car, absolutely beautiful, and the light interior fits perfectly to it.

I can imagine you can dream about this.

Link worked on my end...

I do have to say, when I opened this thread I went "...EWWW, that's nice." I agree Stu and Eric, that has eye appeal. The richness of the red is quite striking....as if created in God's own image Stu.

Yes it does KC, ...after that statement, the one thing I now see I'd like to change if it were mine, would be the painted rearview mirror covers. I'd change them to chrome, like the ones on mine now.

That was my first impression as well.
Seems they also changed the splitter and the trunk plinth to chrome, marvelous move!

For me all the chrome would need to go, it needs to be black like on my sport. The only chrome I'd have would be the front splitter, as on my sport and possibly the bumper blades. The Oatmeal interior is perfect with this colour though, it just looks perfect. I really don't know why it wasn't offered on the XJ when it was on the XK and the X Type.

I first saw this colour on a 2001 XKR when we were visiting family friends in Philadelphia, they had just taken delivery of it. I loved the colour so much that I even had my Triumph painted in the same shade, with a tungsten grey metallic stripe taken from Renault's colour charts.

This photo was taken at 7am late last summer, when the sunlight has that lovely gold light to it.

Mud flaps on the x308 just makes it look ugly imho, but it does protect the paint. The chrome grille looks nice. The price for the car is a bit high. Has a lot of miles 137,000 miles.

Eric, that picture doesn't do the stance any justice but I'm very pleased with it. It took a bit of messing about, but I got it just how I wanted it.

I was very close to getting a set for my car, but they're so popular and the prices are so high. I decided to get my flutes refurbished instead, and I'm so glad I did. I do still like the Asteroids though, they really have a visual effect on the car.

I only like the asteroids or the 17" sport rims from the X300 XJR. Very picky person

But as it looks I'll be getting some adapter discs to change my bolt pattern to 5x108. Loads of nice rims available then!

Asteroids are so hard to find at a good price.
