Default Polishing leaper

My leaper has some "spots". What is the best product to polish them out? It's not pitted or anything, the spots are
on the chrome surface. I don't want to accidentally damage or strip away the chrome finish by using the wrong product.

The only metal polish I use is Peek, which has a Royal Seal by appointment to Her Majesty The Queen. I've polished various chrome and brass surfaces with this stuff and it's come up new. I found an old WW2 shell cashing from a tank in my granddad's shed, it was green in places. Now it's bright brass and I keep my umbrellas in it.

Give it a good coat of wax afterwards too, to keep it looking shiny

That looks like pitting in the chromium. Polish and wax will improve it but shopping for a replacement is the best answer. There should be a good supply online or at Coventry West.
