Pricing guidance
Hi All,
I am ready to sell my 1998 VDP.
I bought it in 2010 with 34k original miles - it now has 124k. (I peeled the emissions sticker off the window!) Exterior is gorgeous. A few very minor pings, and the bumpers have some scratching. This isn't a show car, but I did put a ceramic/nano coat on it a few years back and the shine gets a compliment every day or so. That might be because it is a very dark purple - Jaguar calls it Amaranth...
I changed the tensioners as soon as I bought it. Have done regular maintenance, trans rebuilt around 60k, 2 sets of tires, the most recent are still good. Interior is good too, some scratches but no rips or tears in the leather. Headliner was replaced. Sun roof motor probably needs to be replaced. It doesn't work and I never explored why. Power windows are just fine.
The car sits too low for my back/knee issues and I need to sell it. Can I trust KBB pricing? I am looking for some guidance about my resale value.
What might it sell for privately? What about as a trade in?
It seems a shame that a dealer would salvage it, it still runs like a dream. But if I could get my better value...
Thanks in advance...

KBB pricing is based off averages and isn't a bad starting point, ...what someone is willing to buy a car for is in the eye of the beholder. I would do some looking around as if you were going to buy one and see what others are selling for and compare condition vs price to give you some better guidance.
For instance, chevre (AZ) is selling his 2001.. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-52060/page27/ ...and just posted some pics and included his craigslist link. I'd also be checking out the Forum Marketplace and see those ones for sale.

KBB pricing is not a bad place to start, but Edmunds TMV is better. The former is based on asking prices, while Edmunds is based on actual selling price. In the past, when selling cars, I've taken the average of the two and used that as a starting point.
Craigslist prices are all over the place. Recently someone decided that their salvage 1998 XJR is worth $9k, so now there are several similar cars asking similar fantasy figures.
