propshaft support bearing
Hey mates!
My XJ8 is currently in the work shop to get a new engine and I want to renew parts of the prop shaft, in the mean time.
I already bought new flexible couplings and an universal joint.
I'm now unsure about the support bearing... the X300 has a EBC9040. What about the X308?
Could somebody do me a favour and give me the measurements of the EBC9040 (if it will fit, of course)? Probably I find a replacement part with a grease nipple?
Regards,
David

Why? is it noisy? they're designed for millions of miles in a harsh environment, got a car here with 300k miles and it's silent. I've not known a 308 to have an issue with this bearing.
Hi Sean!
Users in a german forum say, that there isn't a replacement part for the bearing itself. The complete prop shaft must be changed.
The reason why I'm doing that research is because I have that typical knocking noise when the flex joints are cracky. So the shop has to remove the whole prop shaft to replace them. Why not replace all replaceable parts then when it's off?
The car has ran 190000 km.

I currently have a squeaky type of sound every now and then when driving. Getting underneath the car with scopes it sounds like the center bearing in my driveshaft. Ultimately I planned on bringing the Driveshaft down to a specialist in the area to see if he can find something to replace it with.
