Default Recurring Old Problem (Shifter) and a New One (Stereo Noise)

Recurring Old Problem:

Every so often my '98 VDP (125K miles) won't shift into Park. Its fine for a while, then it happens three or four times in a row, usually at inopportune times like when I'm handing the car off for a wash. If I run through the gears in the J-Gate a few times, or drive forward and reverse a bit, it usually resolves itself. Any ideas?

New Problem:

Just last week, I started hearing electrical interference type noises through the stereo (radio or CD), that varied in pitch and volume with the speed of the engine (in any gear). If I shut off the radio, it goes away for a while, then sometimes comes back, sometimes not. I have the 6-CD changer in the trunk, standard HK sound system.

Thanks!

sounds like you may have a shifter cable problem.. and i wud disconnect your cd player and if the noise comes back then you may need a head unit..
