In a post yesterday, I describe exactly what happened, but basically my transmission dumped most/all of its fluid due to a broken cooler line. There was a hot burning rubber smell and smoke while I was at a light about 1/4 of a mile into my trip. I drove another 1/4 mile in order to get to a parking lot where I could have it towed from. At the traffic light just before the parking lot, my transmission fault light finally came on and I could barely get the car to move.

My question: How high are the chances that something is now damaged or has greater wear in my transmission due to that short half mile drive? Is it possible that the smoke and hot smell were solely due to transmission fluid leaking onto hot parts? The car had been sitting for at least 12 hours before this happened.
