OBDII Not working cont'
So, my OBDII connector still isn't working even with a known compatible scanner...
Some suggestions so far are to check for bent pins (done, and clear)
Disconnect the ECU, trans ECU, and any other suspect plugs.... I am not sure of the location of these items.
Another things I am thinking, would it be possible to use an ECU out of a 2000 XJ8 on a 2000 VDP?
Could the ECU be the issue of why I cannot pull the codes?

When you connect the scanner to the OBD-II port and then switch the ignition on, does your scanner start making attempts to communicate with the vehicle's ECU and then report some kind of error with the comms ?
Do you, or a friend, have access to another ODB-II scanner that you can try on your car to see if it does anything ?
Do, also, check over the fuses supplying the ECU, the wiring and the plugs going into it. Also the points nearby where the wiring harness connects to the frame of the car. Slight voltage drops, due to dirty, loose or corroded connections at any of those points can play absolute havoc with the operation of the ECU ! I've been there - more than once.
It is possible for an ECU to fail, but bad connections or a bad scanner are more likely - so verify these first. Does the car's engine start and run. If so, then the ECU is providing at least some functionality and may well be attempting to communicate with your scanner, albeit not perfectly.
Good luck - let us know how this goes won't you ?

I also bought Icarsoft 930 new on Ebay couple years ago to diagnose airbag warning and suspension warning. It will read codes for suspension, air bag, abs, climate , transmission etc. However, I do get "Communication Failure with ECU" for engine code when attempt to read P engine codes. I did not realized this till a year later after purchase. I updated firmware from Icarsoft but it did not help. As such, I do use a second OBII reader for the standard P code.
Icarsoft I930 also works on my 1997 XJ6 and 2003 S-type
I would buy it again even it does not read ECU for P codes since it scanned for all others Jaguar's special codes.

Hi All,
I have a 1994 XJS and the transmission is currently in fail-safe mode (I recently had the alternator replaced). I brought the car to a transmission specialist however they cannot read the codes on the 1994 model. I was told this was before the universal OBD that became available on the 1995 models. I was also told that there were two transmissions used in the 1994 model, the US model and the Asian model. I have the Asian model.
Does anyone know how I can read the computer codes on my 1994 XJS so that the transmission can be properly diagnosed?
Thanks!
