ECU remapping

Has anyone receintly had their ECU remapped in the states? (ie: not in the UK-too far away!)

In the same vein, hasn't anyone like Hypertech, Carputing, etc. come up with a programmer or software that can be used with a laptop to enable one to play around with various parameters?

Yes, but only via piggyback systems with for instance the Dastek one.
