Safely cleaning the engine bay,
What's the consensus on the best way to clean our engines safely. After I solder the ABS module this weekend, I don't anticipate any more work being done under the hood minus routine maintenance . Mine's still got residual sanding debris from paint work as well as the normal grime.
TIA

When I first got the car, I used hot water and a rag for anything "water resistant" (basically only the vertical parts of the engine, and the top of the frame / mounts, etc.
For the rest some rags, and lots of WD40, which cleans up about everything, and leaves a nice shiny layer which rejuveniles the plastics, even after slowly burning off due to the heat.

Mildly diluted (strong mix) simple green works great, non abrasive/non corrosive, and doesn't leave anything behind. Grab some old microfiber rags, Q tips, and let the fun begin
