Default seat rail - floorpan nut disappeared

sigh ... jaguar does it again!

There is a torx head bolt that goes through the seat rail at the front. It goes into a captive nut or some other threaded fitting in the floorpan cross brace.

Unfortunately, removing the bolt seems to have also allow the nut to disappear. The bolt was not tighter than normal, and did not require anything special to remove. It backed out completely normally. But, the nut has just disappeared into the cavity somewhere. Found that out when it came time for reinstallation.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to an alternative fastener since the rear side cannot be accessed to use a plain nut?

It's a large U fastener that slides onto the area you're talking about. You can buy them for a few coppers at the dealers. Have you got a magnet also lift the carpet a little to see if it's wriggled out of sight.

Really? That would be great news!

I'll have a look around, and another look at the remaining one to see what it looks like.

But from memory, the 2 on the passenger seat runners and the remaining 1 on the driver's seat runners seem to be threaded beyond the face of the floorpan sheetmetal.

Done!

Pulled up the seat again and found the u-nut fastener had slid to the side of the hole while remaining in the hole.

It was very helpful to know what to look for. A fresh set of batteries in the torch didn't hurt either

Thanks again!
