Selling 98 XJ8 L...
Hi all. Any suggestions on the best way to go about selling? I live in NJ.
I have enjoyed owning/driving her but it needs work and I'm not a handy man. Needs front and rear shocks/suspension and I believe the multifunction switch needs to be replaced.
She looks and drives beautifully. 95K miles...with 20 K since replacing the transmission September of '13.
Thanks!

Put it on every selling site you can find, also in the surrounding states and even across the US.
A few tips:
- be sure the description is good, no errors in typing and please no CAPITALS or exclamation marks after every sentence.
- make good pictures, that's half the sale
- don't advertise it too cheep, people will suspect it's not a good car or worth the money if you do.
- be honest about the state it's in, like you posted here.
- set the price so there is room for some negotiation.
- be very clear about trading in or swapping.
This should get through to people who are looking for a nice one with some work to be done.
Magazines work as well, be sure you advertise in those which are bought by potential buyers like youngtimers magazines or exclusive cars magazines.
Good luck in selling the big cat!

Also check out the Marketplace->Members Marketplace menu at the top of the forum page. You can post an ad there.
I would suggest just putting a sign in the window and driving it around locally. Unlike "ordinary" cars, the Jaguar XJ8 seems to attract attention and lots of people like the way they look. If somebody sees its for sale and likes it, particularly since you say it looks beautiful, they may jot down your number even if they aren't in the market for one. Just be careful where you park it with a sign as many shopping centers don't like you using them as a car lot.
