How can I tell if I have the Alpine system or the standard system? I have a 2001 Vanden Plas - Canadian car.

 

On my '01 VDP, on the speakers grill says Alpine (premium system), I have four tweeters, four speakers and one sub.

 

What "Meacoulpa" say's is accurate about the sound system, my Premium system in my X-Type say's the same, with the same discreption. Before I changed it.

 

For MY 2000 Jaguar changed the Audio to Alpine for both premium and non-premium cars so having Alpine spkeakers do not mean that you have the premium system
VDP always came with the premium:
A few ways to know if you have a premium system:
1/ subwoofer on the parcel shelve
2/Tweeters on the A pillar trim
3/ Solid ( no hole) front door black plastic trim for the handle

 

Well mine came with Alpine Component sets in front and Back, and it came with a single 6.5 inch sub in the Trunk rear mounted sub rack. All the speakers did say Alpine on them. As well as a 6 disc CD changer and a Navigation Unit in stereo. So whatever that was, I had that in mine.
