Default Spring sag

I知 wondering what everyone is doing with respect to the aging springs on the XJ?

Mine are 19 years old but fine - I guess I知 wondering when do you need to replace the springs? I have a new shocks all the way around, and they restored the ride quite nicely. How do you know when do you need new screens? Is there some measurement one can do between the top of the wheel and the top of the fender? And if I put new springs in, how much will it restore it to its original height?

Or is there a way where I can re-stretch my old springs which are perfectly fine? If you can稚 stretch them, where do people buy new springs?

You can check this post out and also use the link in post #4 where Greverrr and I did an actual comparison about 2 yrs ago.

As for where to get the springs if you needed, first place I'd check would be The Marketplace in the top task bar...or you can look here, ... Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market ...there are thousands of cars with low miles that were destroyed and are in yards.

I personally love the look of a slightly lower car ...so why bother .
Attached are the Jaguar "out off the showroom" ride height measurements for you to compare.

EDIT: DAMN, beaten by Highhorse again ...

edreddy, My 17 year old 2001 XJ8 VDP (70,000 miles) was sitting a little low, especially at the rear. I replaced front and rear shocks (Bilstein comforts), as well as front strut mounting plates/bushings, and rear top donut bushings (important to always replace these) and now the car sits at 15 1/4" front and 14 3/4" rear (wheel center to bottom of fender arch) with 3/4 tank of gas. This indicates that the springs are still well within spec and do not need replacing, you may want to measure your ride height, Assuming you don't have super-high mileage I'm pretty sure you should not need springs.
