Stereo and sport button back light

Having just recently purchased my 6th jag, an 03 xj8 from my local jag dealer, I have recently discovered that the back light of the sport button (not the red light when activated), is not workingand the backing light of the stereo screen is very dim compared to the backing lightof the a/c screen above it. I returned the car to the dealer and was told that there is no bulbbehind these and cannot be fixed. I dont believe this and need to know can these minor problems be fixed. Please help.

Sport switch: AFAIK Jaguar does not offer a replacement bulb but word has it that a Radio Shack bulb #272-1092 is a suitable replacement. I bought the bulbs but haven't yet opened up the switch to replace it...which I guess requires some soldering

Radio: I tried one of the above mentioned bulbs on my1995 XJRstereo. Not bright enough. AFAIK Jaguar does not service this bulb. Anyhow, it was a matter of partially disassembling the radio to de-solder the old bulb and solder in the new one. I presume, but can't verify, that the same can be done with your radio. Others will chime in.

The frustrating part about these projects is finding correct bulbs. If you find something that works make sure to note the source and part number !
