So the problem is my brake lights not turning on and I am unable to get it out of park once I’m done driving. I’ve noticed on elevated surfaces such as driveways, it makes it near to impossible for it to get out of park but on a flat surface there’s little to no problem.
From what I’ve read this could mean the Stop Light Switch has failed and I would need a new one. But those are $100-$200 and I don’t want to waste the money if that isn’t the problem.
Also what would be the process to replace the stop light switch? I can’t find any procedures on ALL-DATA
Looking at the wiring diagram, it could be #7 fuse in the LH healboard. 15 amp. Shows it as being the solenoids fuse for the gearshift interlock. The gearshift and brake lamp circuit goes through the BPM so it’s possible that module could be going bad. There’s more fuses for the module you could check.
Hope all is well down there.

The brake switch is 2 switches in one package , one dedicated to the stop lights
If both switches are not working it can be mechanical adjustment or the switch lever broken
You can test this switch at other points of the car like the ABS connector
The brake switch gets a ground path through the ignition switch to the pin 5 ( Black / Pink color wire ) of the IG switch connector
This pin 5 can get corroded from fluids and the car frame ground can get disturbed behind the dash
Easier and cost to check then digging the brake switch out , IG connector ( 5 wires ) located as you remove small curved panel under the steering column , to pull the car side of the connector out to you lift straight up on the car side of the connector

Sadly isn’t a fuse but when I cleaned the connections on the brake light switch it started to work a little better, I was atleast able to get it out of park today.

Having some trouble finding this part. Only thing I’ve came across is this.

Will check this ASAP so far seems like the switch works somewhat after I had cleaned it up a bit might just be electrical issue somewhere along the way.
